junior year reflection
At the beginning of this year, I set a goal to be more independent, to be organized with my work, and to collaborate with people I don't usually work with. Throughout this year, I feel I have been very organized with my work and I was able to balance this class work with other class work. I made sure I completed all my work and turned it in on time. When I missed a day I made sure to check Hannah's DP or talk to her in person. If I was confused on an assignment I always tried to get help from either a peer or teacher, so I was able to understand the content while completing the assignment. When I was stressed, Hannah was always there to help make sure that I was able to get the work down and assist me in any way she could. At the beginning of this year, I feel that I didn't collaborate with others beside my usual group, however, as the year went on I started to work with others. Hannah helped in this goal, by giving us different assigned seats every few months. I was able to collaborate with a different group of people, however, occasionally I would sneak back to work with my usual group. When I did collaborate with others I feel like I was able to help them, but also learn different ways of solving different problems. This year, I feel like I was unable to meet my goal of working independently. I think that I still relied on my group to help me out and work through problems with me. I did get better at working independently towards the end of the year, but I think I still need to work on this goal.
After this year, I feel more confident in my math ability. Going into this class I already knew some of the content, but it allowed me to review them and understand the content better. I also learned different characteristics and perspectives on content I already knew. I learned a variety of methods on how to solve different problems. This class pushed me to use the knowledge I already had and apply it to the problem of the weeks, word problems we did in class, and practice from the book. Due to this, I believe I will be prepared for math 4 and calculus next year.

Individual Research Project: Geometric Fashion

Reflection:
For our final project, we had to create our own independent research project. For the independent research project, each individual was able to dive into any math topic that intrigued them and create their own final product. I enjoyed being able to choose what path we wanted to go into with the math and our final product. This project allowed us to collaborate and communicate with our group and others on a topic that we were interested in. As you can see above, my group decided to look into geometry involved in fashion and how designers use geometry for different styles. Our group started out by researching different designers and collections that we found interesting. We analyzed different styles and collections, then chose one designer that we felt had the most intriguing designs with geometry to base our final product off. While researching, I learned how geometry is incorporated into designs, how it can affect the look, and how some designers use it to stand out. While researching I realized how much I didn't know about fashion and how there is actually a lot of math involved in creating an avant-garde design. Once we were done researching we started creating our own design. We sketched out what we wanted it to look like and started creating it. Towards the end of creating our dress, we were crammed with time and it became really stressful. I think that our group could have used our time better and planned more out beforehand. If we did this project again, I probably would have liked more time to plan and research, as well as, have more requirements on how much math we needed to include. I liked having some freedom, but I felt like we had too much freedom and it was unclear on how much math we needed to include.

Problem of the week: Equally wet
First Semester Reflection
This semester went really well for me. I was able to get the work I needed to get done for this class. There were moments when I was little stressed when trying to balance all my school work, but I was able to persevere through it. I think this semester I did really well with persevering especially through these last few weeks. There were defiantly times when I had mental break downs and just wanted to give up, but I was able to keep going and figure it out. Through this semester I found myself working with the same group of friends and having trouble branching out to others. One of my goals for this past quarter was to work with other classmates, I found this was a lot harder for me then I thought. I still tend to work my one group of friends and have trouble working with my other classmates. This next semester I would really like to push myself to branch out to other classmates as well as to working independently.
Problem Of the Week: Around King Arthur's Table
I am proud of this POW because I was able to collaborate with my peers to find a solution. My peers and I communicated really well with each other, we were able to split up the work evenly, and discuss different ways of solving the POW. We were able to find patterns and solve the problem together. Since our grouped work so well together, it made the POW a lot easier and more enjoyable.
Problem of The Week: Planning the Platforms
This POW was a challenge and we ran into multiple issues. We went through many different formulas and methods of solving the problem because our formulas didn't work for the entire POW. There were some mental breakdowns during the process of solving this POW because we had to keep re-evaluating our formula and method. In the end, we were able to persevere through it and find a solution. I am proud of this POW because I was able to persevere the challenge and find a solution.
